VEOLIA - PROTECPIT® Workshop Pit Protection

What was the issue ? Need to secured a workshop pit.

VEOLIA contacted us because one of their agencies had an inadequately protected pit.

Many maintenance workshops for trucks and utility vehicles are equipped with maintenance pits. These pits provide access to the underside of the vehicle for operators to reach the engine, axles, and perform maintenance tasks such as oil changes, etc.

Some risks are specific to pit use, with the most significant being the risk of falls. In fact, there is a real accident risk in garages that have one or more pits. When not in use, if the pits remain open without proper protection or with minimal protection, anyone working in the vicinity is at risk of falling in due to a moment of inattention.

An workshop pit is typically about 1 meter wide and 1.5 meters deep. When there's no vehicle over it, it becomes an open hole in the ground and poses a real hazard to operators working around it all day or during nighttime. Falling into such a pit can result in significant injuries. Therefore, it's crucial to equip workshop and garage pits with secured fall protection systems. Most existing pits are equipped with chains and posts that act as guardrails, or with coverings or rigid covers.

The solution proposed by OTEXIO

To address this challenge, OTEXIO, which promotes safety, offered them a new protective net specifically designed for pits: our PROTECPIT® solution, a patented innovation compliant with the CTNIM's R468 recommendations.

We have developed and patented a special net to close and secured pits in case of a fall. This product has been dimensioned by an independent engineering firm. All attachment and fastening means are sized to catch a person falling into the net. We provide the entire product, including the fastening accessories that will be determined based on the type of pit and the accessories to be retained: oil pan, pit jack, etc.

A few weeks after the installation of PROTECPIT® on the site, a supplier who was maneuvering a pallet jack in reverse fell onto the net. VEOLIA prevented a serious accident!
