METAMORPHOSIS OF A BARREL DESTINED FOR DISPOSAL

It was at the POLLUTEC 2023 trade show that Dimitri Durieux - President of OTEXIO and CONTAINERS SERVICE - and Michael RELAVE - visual artist - met (again) and discussed a potential collaboration. Childhood friends who had lost touch, no one could have imagined that a collaboration between these two profiles was possible: one runs a €12M company providing equipment for the waste industry, while the other has a career in art, highlighting the human element through his creations.

Michael is an artist eager for experiences and in perpetual evolution. This mindset has led him to explore all types of media and techniques, with each project being an opportunity to express his creativity in a new light. Aware of current issues and the role that Art plays as a responsible act, Michael liked the idea of using the repurposed products that Containers Service sells as a medium to create a unique piece. Adding color, creating a universe, telling stories with his vibrant shapes and universe on metal barrels destined for disposal seemed obvious.

Giving a second life to metal barrels stored in our warehouse, allowing them to gain value and integrate into a more festive and decorative setting is perfectly aligned with the company's commitment to the environment and promoting reuse.

Containers Service is proud to present its very first range of upcycled metal barrels.

DO YOU KNOW ABOUT UPCYCLING?

The literal translation of the word "upcycling" is "recycling upwards," and it originated in the 1990s. Very popular nowadays, upcycling can be found in virtually every sector: decoration, clothing, industry, jewelry, and even in the kitchen!

Upcycling is the art of transforming a product that has already had one or more lives into a new element, sometimes repurposed from its original use, giving it a second life. This process extends the product's lifespan, avoids the use of new raw materials, saves production energy, and reduces waste.

The general awareness that we live on a planet with finite resources has also changed the ways we consume and buy. Protecting the environment inevitably involves reducing waste, using fewer virgin raw materials, and reusing and recycling used products, both in professional and personal contexts.

It is thus only natural that Containers Service ventures into upcycling, an obvious link in the company's value chain and a complement to our already highly reuse-oriented product range.
